About Eagle Talk

By Kristan Phillips, Eagle Talk writer

Eagle Talk is the student-led school newspaper of Waurika High School in Waurika, Oklahoma made possible through a $7500 grant from the Oklahoma Scholastic Media Initiative (OSMI).

Waurika High School computer teacher Deborah McGhee  received the grant following a week-long workshop during the summer of 2014, at Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Oklahoma.

The purpose of the startup grant was to establish an online newspaper.

The student body suggested names for the paper and then voted for the name Eagle Talk.

Following the purchase, installation, and instructional use of hardware and software necessary to publish  ‘Eagle Talk,’  the site launched in January of 2015.
